Family Owned & Operated Also serving Chesapeake Pest Control, Portsmouth Pest Control, Smithfield Pest Control Suffolk Pest Control was established in 1982 by Harold E. (Jerry) Putman as a sole proprietorship. Jerry and his wife, Shelby operated from their home in Suffolk for the first three years. Shelby answered the phone and took work orders while also working in her hair salon. Jerry worked the pest control appointments alone until it was more than he could keep up with. He then hired Rex Millena who is still with us today. Jerry's daughter, Donna started working with Jerry as the business began to grow. In 1985 Suffolk Pest Control moved to an office located in Downtown Suffolk. The business maintained four full-time employees. Suffolk Pest Control's honest reputation began to spread by word of mouth. Soon, they were working in other surrounding cities. In January 2000 Jerry Putman decided to retire. Suffolk Pest Control was sold to Jerry's daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Fairren Huneycutt. The company became incorporated with Donna serving as President and Fairren as Vice President. Fairren started in the insulation business in 1978 by opening Nansemond Insulation Company. His experience with insulation provided additional knowledge of moisture conditions in the understructure, sidewalls, and attics. Nansemond Insulation gradually grew into Nansemond Exteriors Inc. specializing in exterior remodeling, replacement windows, siding & trim. Today Fairren & Donna operate both Suffolk Pest Control Inc. and Nansemond Exteriors Inc. from their conveniently located office at 3508 Robs Drive, Suffolk VA 23434 (across from Nansemond Suffolk Academy). Our goal at Suffolk Pest Control Inc. is to provide our customers with 100% honesty combined with the most educated inspectors. We strive for 100% satisfaction for each and every customer.2.) Honesty is a job requirement for employees of Suffolk Pest Control. Our technicians are provided Polaroid cameras and film. Pictures are submitted along with proposals and treatment recommendations. This eliminates the possibility of an unsubstantiated need for treatment or false reporting. We trust our technicians; however, we provide this extra measure of security for your peace of mind.
3.) Our technicians are more educated than most. We require them to be certified by the Virginia Department of Agriculture in categories 60 (registered technician), 7-A (general pest control), 7-B (wood destroying pest control), and 7-C (fumigations). Our technicians are also certified by the Virginia Pest Management Association as a wood destroying insect inspector. Both of our inspectors are certified Pest Management Technicians.
We recommend that when searching for a pest control company, you should ask the following questions:
a.) What certifications does the inspector have?
b.) How long has the inspector been with the company?
